Esteem Dental Clinic
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 September 2026
Esteem Dental Clinic(“we”, “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our patients and website visitors. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023. It applies to information collected through https://www.esteemdentals.com and our online booking flow.
Who we are
Esteem Dental Clinic, 26b Uyo Street, Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt 500102, Rivers. We are the data controller responsible for your information. For any privacy question or request, contact us at esteemdentalclinic@yahoo.com or +234 803 709 6074.
Information we collect
When you request an appointment or contact us, we collect only what we need:
- Your name;
- Contact details — phone number, WhatsApp number, and email address;
- Appointment details — the treatment you select, preferred dentist, and preferred date and time;
- Health information you choose to give us — your reason for visit and any additional notes. This is sensitive personal data and we treat it with extra care;
- Whether you are an existing patient, and your HMO / insurance provider if you tell us.
We do not collect payment card details through this website. Your booking progress is saved temporarily in your own browser and is not sent to us until you submit the form.
How and why we use it
We use your information to:
- Schedule, confirm, and manage your appointment and provide dental care;
- Contact you about your booking, including a confirmation and reminder via WhatsApp;
- Respond to your enquiries and, where relevant, coordinate HMO cover on your request;
- Keep accurate patient and clinical records as required for healthcare.
Our legal bases under the NDPA are: performance of our service to you, your consent (which you may withdraw at any time), our legitimate interest in running the clinic, and compliance with legal and professional obligations that apply to healthcare providers.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only with:
- Our clinical and reception staff, so they can provide and coordinate your care;
- WhatsApp (Meta), which carries the confirmation message you choose to send when you complete a booking;
- Our technology providers who host the website and store booking data securely on our behalf, under agreements that require them to protect it;
- Google, which provides our website analytics and ad measurement (see “Cookies and tracking” below);
- Your HMO or insurer, only where you ask us to process your cover;
- Authorities or regulators where the law requires us to.
Some of these providers may store data on servers outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we take steps to ensure your information remains protected to the standard the NDPA requires.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as necessary to provide your care and to meet the record-keeping obligations that apply to dental and medical providers, after which it is securely deleted or anonymised.
How we protect it
Traffic to this website is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to patient records is restricted to authorised staff and protected by authentication controls. We review our safeguards to keep them appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we hold.
Your rights
Under the NDPA you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- Ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it;
- Object to, or ask us to restrict, certain uses of your information;
- Withdraw a consent you previously gave.
To exercise any of these, email esteemdentalclinic@yahoo.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
Cookies and tracking
We use storage that is necessary to run the site — such as keeping staff signed in and saving your booking progress in your browser.
We also use Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking to understand how visitors find and use the site and to measure our advertising. These services set cookies and receive information such as the pages you visit, the device and browser you use, and whether you started or completed a booking, called us, or messaged us on WhatsApp — including the treatment you chose and your preferred appointment date. They do not receive your name, contact details, or the reason and notes you write in the booking form. If you arrived from one of our ads, we note that on your WhatsApp booking message so our front desk knows how you found us. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Children
Appointments for children should be made by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for the information provided on the child's behalf.
